The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Luke 6:45, ESV
It is what we treasure that flows out of us.
Do we long for personal satisfaction, or do we long for God to be glorified out of our love for Him and therefore our love for others?
The only good in us is God in us.
I have started a small group series on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). I am sharing my notes in case anyone else wants to use them with their group. [Reminder that these are only notes!]

Based on the first twelve verses, blessed means realizing our own wretchedness and need for a Savior. In other words, it is becoming/being a Christian.
What was discussed last time?
Matthew 6:1:

(5:16)?
Matthew 6:2-4:
What is Jesus saying?
Beware by making sure your motives are right. Are you seeking glory and people liking you, or are you actually loving others?

Galatians 6:2, ESV

1 Corinthians 13:1, ESV

Matthew 22:37-39, ESV
How do we live God and obey His commandments? We love others.
How do we love others? We obey God’s commandments and seek God above all else.
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
Philippians 2:3 ESV
Just as Christ did not rely on His divinity while on earth, but denied Himself to the point of dying to redeem us, we should love others enough to take care of their needs before our own.
