VerseD: Philippians 2:8

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:8, ESV

God put Himself through torture and death to free us from sin and wrath.
Are we willing to empty ourselves and humbly obey God?
Can I love my neighbor with Christ’s sacrificial love?

VerseD: Psalm 51:1-2

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!

When we humble ourselves, look inside and realize how sinful we are, we see the need for a Savior.
Thanks be to God He is our Savior, through the work of Jesus on the cross!

VerseD: Philippians 2:3

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
Philippians 2:3 ESV

Just as Christ did not rely on His divinity while on earth, but denied Himself to the point of dying to redeem us, we should love others enough to take care of their needs before our own.

VerseD: Proverbs 22:4

The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.
Proverbs 22:4, ESV

Sure, some have gotten rich following God, but the real promise here is that we find true riches and honor in the resurrected Christ. Apart from Jesus, we have nothing.

VerseD: Proverbs 18:2

A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
Proverbs 18:2, ESV

How easy it is for us to claim understanding without knowledge. We think we know God’s will and desires, but frequently we push our own onto His.

Humbly seek God through His Word and Church, being willing to learn before offering opinions.

VerseD: Micah 6:8

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Do not seek what is fair, but what is just.

Show kindness to all, not only those who agree with you.

Realize your need for God to change you, not try to change your own life or things in this world.

Versed: Philippians 2:13

for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, who do his just commands; seek righteousness; seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the Lord.
Zephaniah 2:3, ESV

Only those who can admit they need a Savior and can follow His commands will be saved from the coming judgment. Only in this life is possible to turn and be cleaned.

VerseD: John 13:14

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
John 13:14, ESV

Christ was and is our ultimate example. We are to be humble servants to God by serving others, even when it seems silly, uncomfortable, and demeaning.

It is love. Get over yourself. Love them.

VerseD: Luke 6:37

“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;
Luke 6:37, ESV

This is not a command against judging others. Jesus is telling us to use wise judgment, grounded in God’s Word, and to show grace and forgiveness while calling out sin, but also to be open to sin in our own life being called out.
