VerseD: Joel 2:12

“Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning”
Joel 2:12, ESV

In this life, it is never too late to turn (or return) to God.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. Seek His mercy and grace anew today.

VerseD: Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20, ESV

Christ calls to us, for salvation and good works.
Heed His call. Answer. Be saved, and help others.

VerseD: Romans 15:4

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Romans 15:4, ESV

We must not “unhitch” (Marcionism) from the Old Testament. All of Scripture can teach and encourage us.

VerseD: Proverbs 21:2

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.
Proverbs 21:2, ESV

We may think we are doing good things, but God can see our motivations, our intentions.
Maybe we want to help to because of the obligation, to feel good about ourselves, or even to get revenge!
Or maybe we want to love others. In Christ’s name.

Review – A Matter of Days – Chapter 9

Batty science of death does not make some assumptions true. Death to Death! (One glorious day)

Good God, Cruel World

If there is a more distinct separation between the views of biblical creationists and old earthers, than death before sin, I don’t know what it would be. Ross agrees in his opening of chapter 8

One emotional lightning rod stands taller than all others in the creation day controversy: “Allowing for the millions of years for the fossil layers means accepting death, bloodshed, disease, and suffering before Adam’s sin.” The idea of death before the fall (of Adam and Eve) sparks heated debates. Young-earth spokespersons say an ancient fossil record “documents death, disease, suffering, cruelty, and brutality. It is a very ugly record.”? How can such “ugliness” be compatible with a powerful, loving Creator? Young-earth scholars say it cannot. Most people believe death is bad.

The Bible would agree with “most people” in this instance. I Corinthians 15:26 “The last…

“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered”
Romans 4:7, ESV

What greater joy can there be than to know you deserved destruction but were given forgiveness and grace.

This Sunday at Church: Meditate Silently After Service

Too many times, we rush out the doors and/or to pack up belongings and personal items and kids to get to lunch or some event.
If we have truly just heard from the Word of the Lord, shield we not teacher time to apply ther truth(s) to our hearts or make sure we understand the doctrines and implications of the teaching?
(You could also talk about it with others/your family, if that helps, but it should definitely happen that day … and then through ther week.)

Daniel

VerseD: Deuteronomy 30:16

If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.
Deuteronomy 30:16, ESV

The commands we obey are summarized in loving God, loving people, and loving the Church.

Our Promised Land is eternity with Christ.

Possess eternity through faith in Christ.

VerseD: Luke 16:10

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”
Luke 16:10, ESV

Are you one who is considered faithful, or are you rarely thought of to help with anything?

Have you shared your faith in Christ with anyone, or by your silence have you denied Him?

VerseD: James 1:19

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger
James 1:19, ESV

We must remember to stay calm and listen to others, even if we disagree. Just as God has been patient with us, we should be patient with our fellow sinful humans, remembering they are made in God’s image and may not be aware of what they are doing.
