I do not know Chris Jordan, and I only found his blog through a great blogging brother, but check out this. Whether you are a preacher, a listener, or a doer, this list of 15 quotes on preaching should convict you.

This is an amazing look at “loving your neighbor.” I enjoy reading the posts over at Tearmatt, because it is raw, real, and from the heart. This one is just as great, and since I have a theology blog, I thought it appropriate to share it (It helps that one of my favorite movies of all time, “Back to the Future”, is mentioned!).
A word of warning for my more sensitive readers, there is one spot of strong language toward the end (about his motorcycle).
Faith without works is dead. Are you even in the boat?
Check out these words from Mike, the current guest blogger over at Ebs and Flows.
Today we have a new writer but a familiar face. Anyone who has followed the blog from the start may remember Mike who drew some pretty awesome artwork for the blogs. He has now written a number of blogs which will be appearing over the coming weeks. It appears he is as good with words as he is pictures!
There’s a well known phrase in Christian circles that references Jesus’ miraculous walk on the water and goes “if you want to walk on water then you’ve got to get out of the boat.” Whilst I agree with the sentiment of this statement, I think that we could take it a step further back and say that you first need to get into the boat!

I think this is pretty cool. You should, too!
(This post was first published May 9, 2009.)
Lots of people are wondering what God is calling them to do. And that is a good question. But on the way to the answer, we fill in many answers. So let me suggest some of the things that God did not call you to.
You are not called to be me.
You are not called to be your mother.
You are not called to be your pastor.
You are not called to be happy all the time.
You are not called to be rich.
You are not called to be as organized as the neighbor on the right.
You are not called to be as disorganized as the neighbor on the left.
You are not called to be as ___ as your uncle dave.
You are not called to be your sister.
You are not called to be the guy…

This is just a great poem that is only about 1000 years old. I thank Bob Blincoe from Frontiers for making this available to us!
Shame to my thoughts, how they stray from me.
I fear great danger from it on the day of eternal doom.
During the psalms they wander on a path that is not right.
They fash, they fret, they misbehave before the eyes of the great God.
Through eager crowds, through companies of wanton women,
Through woods, through cities–swifter they are than the wind.
Now through paths of loveliness, anon of riotous shame,
Without ferry or ever missing a step, they go across every sea;
Swiftly they leap in one bound from earth to heaven.
They run a race with folly anear and afar:
After a course of giddiness they return to their home.
Though one should try to bind them or put shackles on their feet,
They are neither constant nor mindful to take a spell of rest.
Neither sword-edge nor crack of whip will keep…

A beautiful prayer. As I reblog this, it is after 3:30 in the morning. I have been sick, and I have missed work. I just had some crazy dreams, and this prayer was waiting for me in my inbox. Thank God that Bob Blincoe of Frontiers was listening to God!
O Loving Christ, who did tell the man Zacchaeus to look into Thy face until he desired God, until Thy loving-kindness was better to him than the greed that was ruining his relationships, come to this place, let us behold Thee, Jesus Christ, for we too are much in need of desiring God; and O holy Christ, who did restore the adulterous woman by Thy forgiveness and by Thy gracious invitation to begin again uncondemned, minister Thy healing words today, for Thy loving-kindness is better than sexual anarchy.
O nail-pierced Christ, who did hear the prayer of the penitent when Thou wert dying on the cross, and did take the thief to paradise with Thy dying breath, minister from the depths of Thy love to us in this place, for Thy loving-kindess is better than dying angry. O Christ, Son of God, who did appeal to Thy Father that final…

This last weekend I was on a men’s church retreat. We were challenged as men: as fathers, as sons, as husbands, as soldiers for Christ, and most importantly as adopted sons of the Most High.
This blogging friend of mine wrote something along the same lines (and it includes Star Trek references!), and it is amazing.
Read his entry and then check out more of his blog. You will be greatly pleased and blessed that you did.
For a large chunk of my life I have been a huge fan of Star Trek. All the way from the early Star Trek episodes (James T Kirk and crew) thru the latest Star Trek movie (although some of the scenes were pushing limits and a little weird). One of my favorite scenes is from Star Trek- The Next Generation. I loved it when Jean Luc was on the bridge and they were about to embark on a new adventure. He would boldly proclaim the course and speed of the USS Enterprise. Laying in the course for those who followed him. He would then proudly proclaim “Engage” and off they would go on a grand adventure. What a wonderful symbol of leadership and confidence. Calmly and confidently leading his crew into the great unknown of the universe. Those around him caught up in his courage and ready to face the unknown- sure…

I think my friend Greg put this nicely. Have we truly progressed as a naiton, or are we still waiting to move past racial barriers?
By G. C. Forsman
We all became witnesses to the unfolding travesty after the tragic death of Trayvon Martin. The usual suspects led the way as the media circus ensued. Division and racial hatred were preached by Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the New Black Panther Party. What had started as a plea for justice from a grieving family, became a scream for vengeance under the direction of those who seek to divide us- those who want us to fight among ourselves so we don’t notice what they’re really doing. Even the President failed to call for cooler heads to prevail, and added fuel to the fire.
News reports have been flooded with examples of hatred being put into action. In Illinois, a 78 year old white man was beaten and robbed by a group of black youths while they stated “this is for Trayvon.” A white visitor to…

Okay, so I have great news!
Starting this Sunday, April 1 (specifically designed to start on April Fools’ Day) a new blog is officially launching: Proverbial Thought!
An online friend was inspired to start this blog, because there is very little available in terms of devotions and commentary on Proverbs. This is a site sharing some insights into the book of Proverbs, and there are contributions from various people from all over the place. For some crazy reason, this dear brother in the Lord thought I would make a great contributor!
I suggest that all of my regular, semi-regular, and random readers head on over to Proverbial Thought and sign-up right away! You will not want to miss what these guys have to say! (You might enjoy even what I have to say!) There is a new passage every single day!
What are you still doing here? GO!
Much love in the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ,
Daniel
