VerseD: John 1:12

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

John 1:12, ESV

God’s plan is restoration of His very good work, starting with this of us who believe in the life, atoning death, and resurrection of Christ – we are adopted in Christ as heirs of eternal life.

VerseD: Matthew 7:8

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Matthew 7:8, ESV

God wants to give us good things, most of all: wisdom and the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. All we need do is ask.

VerseD: Isaiah 12:2

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

Isaiah 12:2, ESV

In Christ alone are we saved. All fear of death and God’s wrath is washed away by the blood of Jesus, and we only need believe.

VerseD: Galatians 5:24

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Galatians 5:24, ESV

We mortify out flesh, that is we willingly give up our sinful desires, putting them on the cross with Christ, finding our identity and desires in Hum alone.

VerseD: Philippians 2:5

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus

Philippians 2:5, ESV

We are being transformed into Christ-likeness, wanting what He wants, doing what He wants to do in this world.

Rather than seeking out own glory and comfort, we should be seeking the glory of God while taking the gospel to the list of the world.

VerseD: Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10, ESV

The ultimate good work was Christ dying on the cross for our sins. We ought to sacrifice of ourselves to take that news to others, helping them get through this life (especially when considering this really may be their best life now!)

VerseD: 1 Peter 5:6

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you

1 Peter 5:6, ESV

Just as Christ humbled Himself to become a Man and die for us, we, too, should humble ourselves for the sake of the Gospel, to share with others why we are willing to look shameful and foolish for their salvation.

Remember: doormats can help clean feet. They can also be fancy. It is the glory of the Homeowner that we seek.

VerseD: Acts 2:38

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38, ESV

When we repent and believe in Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit, and He helps us glorify Christ by loving others and sharing the good news of Christ.

VerseD: Acts 1:8

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 1:8, ESV

Our purpose in life is to bring glory to God, and He has given us His Spirit to share the news of His love and grace to the whole world.

VerseD: Colossians 3:12

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience

Colossians 3:12, ESV

God humbled Himself (condescended to us), becoming weak in His kind patience with us because of His compassionate love to save us.

Let us do likewise, as we remember that we were just like the world, and carry that God news so that they, too, may come to know His kindness.
