VerseD: Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7, ESV

We cannot know God if we do not know about who He is. We must remember first that He is a God of wrath who must punish sin, then we can know the God of grace and forgiveness.

Then we can begin to rightly understand our world and ourselves.

VerseD: Proverbs 22:4

The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.

Proverbs 22:4, ESV

The Bible does not necessarily promise riches, honor, and life in this life. It is clear that we definitely inherit the richness of righteousness, the honor of the King of Creation, and eternal life in Christ.

VerseD: Proverbs 23:24

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

Proverbs 23:24, ESV

Any parent is happy when their children choose to do well in life.

How much more delighted is God when we choose to follow and obey Christ?

VerseD: Proverbs 13:20

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverbs 13:20, ESV

We can walk with God and others who do, growing in wisdom from the source of wisdom, or we can follow this world and it’s ways and suffer the consequences.

VerseD: Proverbs 12:25

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

Proverbs 12:25, ESV

Daily life can be hard, and a realization of our sin can weigh heavy on the heart and mind.

An encouraging word can change a bad day to a good day, and the Gospel can free us from shame and fear.

VerseD: Proverbs 20:7

The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!

Proverbs 20:7, ESV

Our Christian walk is not about us. We walk in the righteousness of Christ to bless others and glorify our heavenly Father.

Do you know how to know if someone loves you?

My lovely bride just about hates doing the laundry. Having to hang clothes and fold linen is the bane of her existence.

Yet, she will do the laundry sometimes while I am out of the house.

Because she loves me.

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
Proverbs 31:25 ESV

Why do I discuss this?

Apparently, the twelfth wedding anniversary is the linen anniversary. (Silk apparently works for 12, too.)

And we have made it.

I love this wonderful woman of God.

Happy Anniversary, Wonderful Woman!

VerseD: Proverbs 13:3

Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

Proverbs 13:3, ESV

Boasting about your life does not help anyone and possibly hurts others by leading to sin.

But if we boast in the work of Christ, we may lead others to God.

VerseD: Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Proverbs 18:21, ESV

Are you better at encouraging or discouraging, building up or tearing down with your words?

Do you share biblical, spiritual truths or focus on worldly and even sinful talk?

Do you spread love or hate?

VerseD: Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6, ESV

In general, children remember things they have been taught, and wise and practical things tend to stick.

How much more then should we show and tell the truths of God?
