VerseD: 2 Timothy 1:7

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

2 Timothy 1:7, ESV

We can overcome our fears by God’s Holy Spirit and the hope we have been given, especially to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our world.

VerseD: Proverbs 20:7

The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!

Proverbs 20:7, ESV

Our Christian walk is not about us. We walk in the righteousness of Christ to bless others and glorify our heavenly Father.

This Sunday at Church: Encourage a father that’s an Example to Others

I immediately think of two of my friends specifically when people talk about godly parents. One I had the privilege of discipling when he graduated high school (he even said he wanted to find his own Caitlin like mine, and then he married a Caitlin!), and the other I have shared a house with when we needed a place to live, helping raise their daughter for the first year of her life. (We still help quite a bit!) These are two godly men who are aware of their faults, Seek God’s help to be better, and love their kiddos like noone else.

VerseD: Psalm 34:18

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18, ESV

Our Lord understands us completely, and those who can be humble and admit their hurts and needs are closer to Him than they may realize and will see Him one day face to face.

VerseD: Galatians 5:14

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 5:14, ESV

We have been freed from sin and pride so that we are free to love God by loving other people through sacrifice and service.

VerseD: Matthew 6:25

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”

Matthew 6:25, ESV

Our biggest concern should be the destination of our souls. Knowing Christ has redeemed us by His blood should remind us that God can obviously meet our physical needs, as well.

VerseD: Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Romans 8:26, ESV

It’s okay to not know what to pray for or how to pray, especially when we have to deal with the problems of this world. Our Lord knows our needs and and helps us in all things.

VerseD: Joshua 1:8

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Joshua 1:8, ESV

We should be regularly reading, thinking on, and talking about God’s Word that we may continually work on and encourage each other in living it out.

VerseD: Psalm 91:1-2

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 91:1‭-‬2, ESV

The Church (and therefore the people) may be the Temple of God (so we should love the Church), but it is the Lord Himself who is our hope and redemption.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 12:25-27

that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

1 Corinthians 12:25‭-‬27, ESV

Our love of Christ should compel us to love His Body, the Church. We should live sacrificially loving each other and pushing each other closer to Christ.
