Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27, ESV
Religion is not inherently bad. Neglecting loving our neighbors, especially the least of these, is. One simple rule in two parts: Love God by loving others.
Yep. It is my go to verse, but I also pointed out to th the Youth group two weeks ago that Genesis 4:26 describes the beginning of organized religion by Enosh (Adam’s grandson) and others, meaning from the godly line.
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
I like this verse when some go too far and say religion is all bad and yet they are Christians…
