Do not forget to catch some wisdom from Proverbial Thought!

This week I started working on a new Masters degree. It is my second, but I am also working on my first. It was an interesting series of events that led to this happening.

Most of those events I would not have expected, and some of them seemed like bad things from my perspective when they started. Now I can see how they were working me toward something.

As they say, God works in mysterious ways.

series of events

all sorts of events come up

a series of unfortunate events

or maybe of fortunate events

what if all of the unplanned

the things that seemingly hinder

were events to get you to stop

what if all of these random events

that you thought are bad are not

maybe God is trying to get to you

to stop for just one or two moments

maybe He just wants you to look at

who is around and just listen

perhaps God is trying to bless you

to put that person or situation

into your life to bring a blessing

or to bring back your full attention

when things seem to be going wrong

remember to always praise and give thanks

you never know if God is just moving

to bring heaven to our earthly plane

it is when we respond with love and faith

in times that seem too difficult

to prove that He alone is God

that we display what He is all about

HE IS RISEN!

Find the true Wisdom of God, and perhaps He can be found through some of the writings at Proverbial Thought!

If you have not heard Michael W. Smith’s “Missing Person”, it is well worth listening to. It was one of the inspirations for this poem today. The other was my journey through 2007 as I rediscovered Jesus Christ after a couple of years of turning from Him.

May you be encouraged today on this annual celebration of our Lord’s resurrection!

that faith

that faith that i once had

where i believed all Your Word said

i trusted all that You had said

and my life was saved from death

but somehow Your Word was forgotten

i decided to embrace my old sin

as i continued into deeper sin

Our relationship worsened

i want that faith to be mine once more

to tell everyone i trust the Lord

that i would know His Living Word

and share that faith with the world

and yet i find i want more than that

that i could lead others down Your Path

and have good replace all the bad

that we would walk with our Heavenly Dad

i still want more with that faith

to lead in power to the only Way

and impact those i meet everyday

because i move on every word You say

that faith that leads me to You

that love that compels me to share Your Truth

that blood that cleaned me through and through

that grace that redeems my eternal soul

that faith that i want today is

that faith that trusts my Lord Jesus

that faith first displayed by Jesus

that faith He wants for all of us

that faith i pray will push me

to follow my Savior completely

to share His Power and peace

to show everyone the Love that fills me

Remember the Lord. Seek wisdom. Find some at Proverbial Thought! Also remember that the first 10 chapters are available in a new book!

The poem today is all about how important the salvation of a single person is. Every person who seeks the Lord brings a celebration in Heaven!

the heavens rejoice at life

when new life is created

      the heavens rejoice

when new life enters the world

      the heavens rejoice

when new life replaces the old

      the heavens rejoice

when that life rejoices in God

      the heavens rejoice

when that life illuminates life

      the heavens rejoice

when that life ushers in new life

      the heavens rejoice

Proverbial Thought does it again, as we re-run and occasionally modify or offer new thoughts!

Speaking of thoughts, today I do not offer a poem so much as my own proverbial thought.

When Jesus came to Earth, He turned the world upside down. He challenged every idea we have, every perception we think we understand, and every box we try to put God into.

And then He overcame … and gives us a Helper to overcome with Him!

The Holy Spirit is boxed in by the Word.

The cool thing about God is

His box was built inside out.

Each of, when we begin following Christ, have the calling the share Christ with others. It is what He has commissioned us to do:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20, NIV

The poem today is about desiring to live out this Great Commission.

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.
Ephesians 6:19, NIV

|alone with a gift|

i am all alone

in the middle of a crowd

no one notices me

even when i cry out

my Lord has given me

a gift i cannot contain

it makes me different

among much staying the same

i now ask for boldness

and a voice that is strong

to proclaim the gift of God

which is His living only Son

Perhaps (and I mean “Absolutely”) we should approach our life in Christ like John the Baptizer:

To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’ The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less.
John 3:27-30, NIV

This is best accomplished through opening ourselves to the movement of the Holy Spirit. This is what brings honor and glory to God!

And perhaps, like Paul, we will also become smaller. (“Paul” meaning “small”)

pickled

i want to be like a pickle
that soaks up what is around
it seems to grow smaller and wrinkled
but it is filled with what surrounds
i want my God through His Spirit
to fill me and surround me
so that i become so saturated
that His Love is all that people see
that i might become smaller
His Spirit and mine infused
that i overflow with the Love of the Father
and live and speak a life of truth

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
1 Corinthians 1:18-25, NIV

|when Truth speaks|

when Truth is spoken

people get defensive

when Truth is shared

people must face how they live

when Truth is lived

no one can deny

when Truth is displayed

no one dares to try

when Truth speaks

He changes our lives

when Truth speaks

He says follow Christ

when Truth speaks

He moves within us

when Truth speaks

He speaks with justice

when Truth speaks

He gives living water

when Truth speaks

He shows all favor

when Truth speaks

He points to the Truth

when Truth speaks

He says “I died for you”

when Truth speaks

the Messiah speaks

when Truth speaks

He says “I am He”

when Truth speaks

we better listen

when Truth speaks

we become different

when Truth speaks

it is for repentance

when Truth speaks

it is not just for fun

when Truth speaks

it is to set us free

when Truth speaks

He says “Come.  Follow Me”

Every so often we find life feeling like too much. We are not sure what to do with ourselves.

This poem came out of one of those days. It just felt like I was disconnected from God, almost as if He had pulled away.

One of the amazing things about these moments, though, is that if we continue to cling to our Heavenly Father we find so much joy and strength on the other side.

However, as Mother Teresa would have attested to, sometimes this can go on for years. I am sure she would still attest to it being worth clinging to God, anyway.

We await a far greater life of joy, peace, and love with our God, and the promise of this was given three days after Jesus died on that cross.

Hold on. Jesus is coming!

when i do not feel near You

it is when time drags on
when i do not want to move
it is when i feel numb
when i do not feel near You
it is when time feels surreal
when i feel old and used
it is when i can eat no meal
when i do not feel near You
it is when time eats away
when i feel i cannot do
it is when i waste away
when i do not feel near You

Weekend Words & Sunday Stanzas – 02/23/2014

Proverbial Thought finished going through Proverbs on Thursday, but much wisdom and guidance can still be garnered!

It amazes me the number of people who confess belief in Jesus Christ as Savior, yet they remain content to keep living life the same way or in way of “just getting through.”

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:6-7, ESV

my life is moving
i try to follow
but what is missing
i still feel hollow
it is Your Spirit
moving inside me
that i have needed
fill me completely
i can do nothing
without Your power
make me a new thing
one that shares Your heart
