VerseD: Psalm 139:10

even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

Psalm 139:10, ESV

No matter what we go through, our God is right there with us, caring for us and protecting us.

VerseD: Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6, ESV

The promise is not that God would make a visit to us. God has come, and He is reigning over Earth from Heaven through His Holy Spirit-filled Church.

Let us spread the Kingdom of our God who is with us.

Advent 2022 – Day 15: Matthew 2:1-2

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:1-2, ESV

At Advent, we look back at why Jesus had to come, that He came, and then that He will come again.

Our sins have stacked up to heaven, deeper and more vile than we could know.

But God was not willing to leave us mired in our sin.

God came to us, born as an infant, weak, physically powerless, yet without sin.

And wise men came to see this miracle, to give honor and gifts.

Most people miss that our Lord has come to be with us as one of us.

We often still ignore Him.

Yet, God came to us, showing us that even in our ignorance He comes after us.

We may not have much to offer but our sin, and maybe we have great wealth and/or skills to give, but only the wisest seek God who has come.

May we seek the Lord who grants wisdom to the lowly and grace to the humble.

VerseD: Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6, ESV

We have been sent into the world to change it for God in the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

May we worship Him in confidence knowing He goes before and with us to accomplish this good work.

VerseD: Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Zephaniah 3:17, ESV

As we live in this world, we will be encumbered and afflicted with worries, anxieties, and fears.

But our God can and does save us, giving us strength and joy in the midst of evil and suffering. Lean on Him.

VerseD: Romans 10:7

“or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

Romans 10:7, ESV

Our God came to us as one of us, died and He was buried in the ground. Despair could have held us, but He alone could defeat death.

And He did.

VerseD: Matthew 6:34

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Matthew 6:34, ESV

God is with us and helping us through this life. Don’t worry. Turn to Him.

VerseD: 1 Peter 3:12

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

1 Peter 3:12, ESV

God is ever-present in our lives, but He pulls away from evil. Let us stay within His presence by seeking Him and His righteousness.

VerseD: Zechariah 14:9

And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day the Lord will be one and his name one.

Zechariah 14:9, ESV

God is with us via the Holy Spirit, but when Christ returns to reign on Earth, then we will be with God for eternity.

VerseD: Jeremiah 29:13

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13, ESV

God is with us when He is in us. We find God through Jesus, the one who came for us, and then He indwells us by His Holy Spirit.
