VerseD: John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1, ESV

We want to be with God. We must follow the One who is God who became a man to show us how to be with God.

This Sunday at Church: Pray for the Gospel to advance in Turkmenistan

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for the Gospel to advance in Turkmenistan. Most Americans do not know much of the countries in Central Asia.  They are the countries that ends with “stans.”  Think Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, etc. But the ones I don’t know about the most is Turkmenistan. Its been called […]

VerseD: 1 Thessalonians 5:15

See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.

1 Thessalonians 5:15, ESV

Evil begets evil. Love and kindness cover and even wash away evil, like the blood of our Savior.

Love like Jesus, in truth and gentleness.

VerseD: Colossians 1:13-14

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 1:13‭-‬14, ESV

We are born with darkened understanding and must turn to God who can truly enlighten us and change our thinking. This starts by acknowledging our sin against God and receiving Hos forgiveness in Christ.

VerseD: James 5:16

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

James 5:16, ESV

We like to think we can do things on our own, including earning forgiveness.

We must regularly confess our sins – to each other that we might lift each other up, and to God that His forgiveness may flow in us.

VerseD: Psalm 113:3

From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised!

Psalm 113:3, ESV

If God is truly God, then we must praise Him for Creation and sustaining all things all the time. We must stop thinking strictly of “the natural way of things” and recognize His sovereign Hand in everything.

VerseD: 1 Peter 2:9-10

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

1 Peter 2:9‭-‬10, ESV

We must realize that in Christ we are not who we once were. We have been imprinted with the likeness of Christ, holy and royal, examples of God’s goodness in a dark and lost world.

May we be God’s ambassadors rather than live for ourselves.

VerseD: Isaiah 26:4

Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

Isaiah 26:4, ESV

We cannot get through this life alone, and we must change our thinking to acknowledge our need for God. He is the foundation of Creation, especially our life, so may we seek and trust in Him.

VerseD: Romans 12:1

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Romans 12:1, ESV

To find eternal life, we must change our way of thinking, believe in Jesus Christ as our God who saves us, and give our lives to Him. There is no other way.

This Sunday at Church: Pray for any long time church goer not yet a Christian would be saved

I have encountered many over the years who think they’re good enough or that just going to church is enough to please God, attending each week, maybe even going to Bible studies. It can be one of the hardest deceptions to break through.

I have even had several conversations about Ravi Zacharias this past week, someone who spoke in churches and Christian events making good cases for faith in Christ, yet he apparently was unrepentant through his last breath.

May we pray for those who attend but never really follow Christ.

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for any long time church goer not yet a Christian would be saved.   In the past I wrote “This Sunday at Church: Pray for unsaved recent visitors to be saved.” I’ve been thinking tonight about prayer for those who are not saved and yet regularly go […]
