VerseD: Proverbs 18:24

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24, ESV

Friendship is good, but a lot of friends won’t necessarily make us feel better nor save us from all our sins.

Yet, Jesus has called us friends if we belive in and follow Him and His sacrificial love.

VerseD: Romans 12:21

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21, ESV

Everything we do apart from Christ is evil, yet He came to overcome our evil with His righteousness by His death.

May we live like our Lord and Savior, loving others sacrificially and with goodness.

This Sunday at Church: Pray for those who are engaged to be married

My wife and I made sinful mistakes in the relationships we had before we met. We went super-traditional courtship-style ourselves. We have counseled a few couples together, and I have officiated many more weddings.

This is something I think of regularly, and thus pray for engaged couples. Please join us. This world and Satan will put so much pressure on then- and already has been!

Daniel

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for those who are engaged to be married. This past week we had a couple over for pre-marital counseling.  I consider it a privilege and serious responsibility with faciliating this as a pastor. But it got me thinking: What a privlege […]

VerseD: Hebrews 12:2

looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2, ESV

Our God showed us that a cursed person was hung on a tree, facing ultimate shame. Yet He came to us, knowing He would take our shame, and knowing He would see us in Eternity.

VerseD: Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7, ESV

No matter what is happening in life, as we follow Christ He gives us His peace. Seek Him.

VerseD: John 8:32

“and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:32, ESV

We know we are horrible, and this truth hurts, but the truth that God came to us to redeem us and restore us frees us to move past mistakes, sins, and horribleness and into life, love, and grace.

VerseD: Joel 2:12‭-‬13

“Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.

Joel 2:12‭-‬13, ESV

We may fail and fall away, but the Spirit of God draws us back into repentance, faith, and love.

VerseD: Psalm 51:11-12

Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Psalm 51:11‭-‬12, ESV

We may stumble and even fall away for a time from God’s perfect standard, but as Christians we can never lose the Holy Spirit, only the fruit of the Spirit. May we quickly repent and be restored to peace and joy.

VerseD: Matthew 10:16

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”

Matthew 10:16, ESV

The world hates Christ and wants to stop Hos Word from spreading, but as we walk with Him, He guides us by the Holy Spirit in all wisdom while keeping us innocent amidst the wickedness.

A Prayer Answered During 2020 Chaos

2020 was a crazy year. During all the unrest with the riots with George Flyod I started doing something regularly on Twitter: Pray for antifa types and other criminals. I don’t mean protestors; I mean those who were breaking things and hurting people. I would pray for these people by name; or if no names […]
