So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31, ESV
There are times we disagree about how to worship God, but as long as it does not contradict Scripture and we strive to honor God in our acts, we should show grace to each other in Christ’s love.
I have had to use this passage quite a bit lately, hence my commentary. Responding to many people over the holiday issue, even to the point of responding to “unless God ordained the feast, even eating so much food at this time is eating from a sacrifice to gluttony and selfishness”, I have been pointing out that it was this thinking that Paul is refuting here and in Colossians, going so far to point out that the festival of Hanukkah is not found in the 66 books of our Bible, but it is in the deuterocononical book of 1 Maccabees, and Jesus celebrated Hanukkah (John 10).
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
This passage I love a lot!
