This Sunday at Church: Talk to someone about God’s Omnipresence

This past Fall, these conversations happened fairly regularly as I taught the Youth about God’s attributes. As we now make our way through The 7 C’s of History, I also add how we see God’s grace in each “C” (e.g. God’s Independence and Trinitarian nature means He did not need to Create anything or anyone.)
It is a very good idea to keep each other thinking about God’s attributes and how that affects our understanding of Him, our world, and our Christian walk.

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Talk to someone about God’s Omnipresence.

VerseD: Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Proverbs 9:10, ESV

Knowing our Creator and His wrath against sin leads us to understanding this world and our need for His forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ.

VerseD: Numbers 18:31

And you may eat it in any place, you and your households, for it is your reward in return for your service in the tent of meeting.
Numbers 18:31, ESV

Ministers receive their portion of the offering as a gift from the Lord.
Likewise, we take the Gospel with us, that we partake in Christ’s inheritance by His sacrifice, and we share it with all who will receive it.

VerseD: Numbers 18:27

And your contribution shall be counted to you as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress.
Numbers 18:27, ESV

Ministers receive the tenth from the people and then also tithe, but God sees the minister’s tithe as it’s own separate offering.
This, too, is a shadow of Christ’s substitionary sacrifice, that He offered Himself in our place but it is seen as our own peace offering before God.
His sacrifice, our reward.

VerseD: Numbers 18:26

“Moreover, you shall speak and say to the Levites, ‘When you take from the people of Israel the tithe that I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall present a contribution from it to the Lord, a tithe of the tithe.”
Numbers 18:26, ESV

God provides for ministers through His people, and the ministers still make offerings to God from that.
As Christians, we are all ministers called to support each other and help spread the Gospel.
(And when possible, have a paid, trained pastor.)

VerseD: Numbers 18:24

“For the tithe of the people of Israel, which they present as a contribution to the Lord, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance. Therefore I have said of them that they shall have no inheritance among the people of Israel.”
Numbers 18:24, ESV

Pastors, preachers, and teachers may not have much, but it is provided by God through His people.
It is a reminder that for all of us our true inheritance is in Christ.

VerseD: Numbers 18:21-22

“To the Levites I have given every tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service that they do, their service in the tent of meeting, so that the people of Israel do not come near the tent of meeting, lest they bear sin and die.”
Numbers 18:21‭-‬22, ESV

God not only provides for His faithful people, He expects trained leaders to protect and guide His people in all truth and faithfulness.
(So, yes, their should be paid pastors and staff who are faithful to God’s Word.)

VerseD: Numbers 18:20

And the Lord said to Aaron, “You shall have no inheritance in their land, neither shall you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the people of Israel.
Numbers 18:20, ESV

Aaron and his descendants (and the Levites) were the shadow of the Church: we have no earthly inheritance, for we are co-heirs with Christ. Christ is our inheritance. Yet, He gets all of Creation.

VerseD: Numbers 18:11

This also is yours: the contribution of their gift, all the wave offerings of the people of Israel. I have given them to you, and to your sons and daughters with you, as a perpetual due. Everyone who is clean in your house may eat it.
Numbers 18:11, ESV

God provides for His servants, those who tend to His Temple. In Christ, all Christians are and tend to His Temple, the Church.
How much does He want to provide for us?
