Well…. inherent in the verse is an attack, is it not? And being that Satan is the Enemy who regularly seeks to destroy, necessitating the “whole armor of God,” is it not safe to assume one could be under attack at any given time should he be on the battlefield for the Lord?
I understand this verse to mean that when attacks (primarily temptation) do come, we have the power from Christ to resist, to repel, to withstand and push away the enemy; we don’t have to surrender in defeat. We don’t have to sin.
If I were not under a self-imposed word limit, that is about what I would say! (And have!) Thanks for adding the rest! It is good to have brothers in the Lord.
