I’m still pretty busy getting settled, so I’m still re-posting some older posts. Here is a good one 🙂

Your Requests

Lately I have been getting a lot of requests* from my readers and random people I meet on the street. They have been asking things like, “Hey, Anthony! Why don’t you write a blog post that deals with relationships and dating?”

There have also been multiple married couples** across the country come up to me and point-blank beg me to share my thoughts on marriage, keeping the love alive, etc. Probably 25 couples*** specifically asked, “Can you enumerate a list of actions we as couples can take to ‘spark’ things up, but in a Baptist way?”

So, what else can I do but give my readers what they ask for, right?

Therefore, as requested, here are approximately 10 easy tips to spark up your love life –…

Seven Letter to Seven Churches-Ephesus Part 2

VerseD: 1 Samuel 2:2

“There is none holy like the Lord : for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.”
1 Samuel 2:2, ESV

God is wholly separate, wholly different from His creation, and He alone is God.

We can trust that He alone can take care of us in all things.

VerseD: Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20‭-‬21, ESV

We ask God without knowing what He has for us. We fail to understand grace, peace, forgiveness, and eternity. Yet we think we know what to ask for in this life.

Seek first the Kingdom, and you will be amazed at what He does.

VerseD: Isaiah 12:2

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
Isaiah 12:2, ESV

Many things happen in this world, but through Jesus Christ we know that God is in control and has and will redeem us from this fallen world.

VerseD: 1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9, ESV

There is no forgiveness without confession and repentance.

Give your sin to God, and find peace.

If it helps, tell a trusted Christian brother or sister.

Proverbs 12:7

“The wicked are overthrown, and [are] not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.”

The Wicked

The person that coined the phrase, “All good things must come to an end” must have never read Proverbs 12:7. According to this verse, it will be the wicked that come to an end. Or should I say, die and disappear. The ESV says our verse this way, “The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous will stand.”

The Greek word for overthrown is “haphak” which means “to turn around or turn over; to overturn”. This is the same terminology that was used in Genesis 19:21,25,29, when God displayed His judgement on Sodom and Gomorrah.

God overthrew or overturned Sodom and Gomorrah because of the wickedness of the people and He has promised that same ending for the wicked today!

Seven Letters to Seven Churches-Ephesus Part 1

Wally has finally made it to the churches the Revelation letters were written to!
All joking aside, there is some great background information about Ephesus here.

Daniel

VerseD: Micah 7:18

Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.
Micah 7:18, ESV

God overlooked ignorance of sin for thousands of years. He removes our sin now.

Why?

Because He delighted to come to us, to sacrifice Himself, so that, when we believe in this, He lavishes His love, grace, and forgiveness on us.

Powerful Words

Hear (or rather READ) my words: catch David’s words about the Word’s word about words over at Proverbial Thought. Good stuff.

Proverbs 12:6

“The words of the wicked [are] to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.”
“The words of the wicked are like a murderous ambush, but the words of the godly save lives.” (NLT)

The Power of Words

Words have great power. Words can build up, and words can tear down. Words can point in the right direction, but words can also lead astray. Words can encourage, and words can cripple. Words can heal, and words can hurt. There can be no doubt that words spoken thoughtlessly or without wisdom can cause untold damage. The statement in this proverb that words can be like a murderous ambush provides a serious warning about how we choose to speak, and the words that leave our lips.
