VerseD: Proverbs 4:23

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
Proverbs 4:23, ESV

Job made a covenant with his eyes, and many limit what they eat. But God reminds us everything we look at, listen to, and think about affects the heart (and mind and soul). What we allow in and dwell on affects our thoughts, beliefs, and actions.

VerseD: Psalm 16:11

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11, ESV

Christ is the only way to God and eternal life, and that is the only way to find peace and joy that not only endure but will last eternally.

VerseD: Hebrews 12:14

Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
Hebrews 12:14, ESV

Christ made peace between us and God.

Therefore, we should make peace with others in this world, as much as possible (without compromising the Gospel).

VerseD: Matthew 7:8

“For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”
Matthew 7:8, ESV

All are welcome to seek and call on the Name of the Lord.

Those who repent and believe then only need ask.

How many times do we not ask God for what we need, or even want?

VerseD: Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Psalm 32:8, ESV

God desires to teach us in how to live, and He has given us to primary sources:

  1. His Word (the Bible, but also Jesus),
  2. His Church.

Listen to both to live rightly.

VerseD: Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23‭-‬24, ESV

Do you realize how central Jesus is to everything?

We not only serve for Christ, but in all we do we are serving Christ.

Whatever you did to the least of these you did to Me.” (Matthew 25:40)

VerseD: John 15:7

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
John 15:7, ESV

Jesus is not promising a “Name-It-and-Claim-It” kind of wishful thinking.

Jesus is following through on what many other parts of the Bible, including His own words, promise: When your character is becoming so in tune with His and you are living by the Holy Spirit, then you will ask for things according to His will.

And then your requests will be given.

VerseD: John 15:5

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5, ESV

We can try doing all sorts of things for God, but if we are not first found in Christ it will all be useless.

VerseD: John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:27, ESV

The One who has overcome death and the grave, conquered sin and violence, and sustains the Universe itself has given us peace.

Fall on Christ. It will break you, but you will be made whole and find His peace.

VerseD: Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7, ESV

When we trust God for everything, give Him all the glory and credit for everything, we will find that nothing can faze us.
