Weekend Words & Sunday Stanzas – 11/27/2011

My Thanksgiving Day post was about why I am thankful, so today’s poem is a reminder of that.

here is why
daniel m  klem

why were there screams
and all of the cries
that the Son of Man
should be crucified
the senseless violence that
could have been stayed
was acted through
on that horrible day

why did God allow it
if His Son had to die
it happened so you
could keep your life
Christ died to set
our souls completely free
and wash sin from everyone
including you and me

Weekend Words & Sunday Stanzas – 11/20/2011

We have not stayed in the same place with our roommates of a year and a half for longer than a couple of hours at a time since Tuesday. After a year and a half of sharing a small amount of space with people, that feels weird. We might get used to it, but it still feels weird. The good news is that we are pretty much all moved … into our separate apartments across town from each other (it is just the way it worked out, honest!). In any event, missing each other is the inspiration for posting today’s poem. I have a hope you will enjoy!

AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Remember Who to thank for all of your blessings (and trials)!

too long away
daniel m  klem

i spent too much time
trying to please my friends
but that will not help
when my life ends
i would act a certain way
even when i knew
doing so at all
is not for You
but now i am back
and i know how to live
i will live the life
with my life to give
and Your Will will show
in everything done
and all will know
i live for the Son

This poem sort of applies to the topic this week, but really it is a combination of being about love for another and God’s love for us.

those eyes
daniel m  klem

those eyes look on me
they offer me peace
when i am troubled
and my anger doubled
i feel those eyes stare
stare at me with care
but even though i fear
even when you are near
your eyes protect me
from whatever may be

I am happy to say that our Lord has come back from the dead! He is risen!

Since April of this year, something Pastor Chuck Swindoll said has stuck in my mind:

“Many people ask why Christmas seems to be a bigger holiday than Easter if our whole faith is based on the Resurrection. Well, it was so important that it is not celebrated once a year, but 52 times a year. Every Sunday!”

Enjoy.

Redeemer lives
daniel m  klem

my Redeemer lives
the world testify
all about how
He gave His life
so that we can
be justified
and be with God
who is Most High
my Redeemer lives
i tell no lie
they crucified
Him for our lives

I have four poems for you today. Each was written on the same day. Each is short! Happy Halloween?

Better …

GOD BLESS YOU!

through me

the burden gone
You with me
i give thanks
for Your Love
and all You do
with and through me
keep Your Love
moving through
to touch me
and all i know

You filled me

Lord  You have filled me
and i can barely stand
Your Love is so great
i want to show man
they all will know what You do
for every one that knows You
and those who do not know
His Love extends to them  too

everything that hinders

you touch me with grace
the grace with power to free
not free in only the physical
but freedom from sin
and anger and grief
and everything that hinders
amen

my letter to You

God
You are Awesome
fill us all now
and free everyone
You are my King

Sincerely
me

So, the end of the world as we know it was supposed to happen on Friday. (Remember Harold Camping telling us the Rapture was supposed to happen on May 21 and the end would come on October 21? I made reference to it here, here, and here.)

Again, I commemorate the occasion with a poem. This one is actually less tongue-in-cheek.

waiting
daniel m  klem

i wait for Your answer
to come from You
i wait for Your coming
to rescue me  too
i wait for Your Son
to come and save me
I wait for Your Word
to let it be
i wait only for You
to talk with us
i wait for many things
to make all trust
until these happen
i will keep waiting

As I discussed those for whom it takes a little extra effort to show love, I thought today’s poem was a rather good fit. It is a bit of a cry out to God in those times when it feels like no one wants to listen to us about God.

will not listen
daniel m  klem

i speak to them
they argue back
i try to teach
they just attack
those who listen
speak next to me
nonlisteners
persecute we
who teach nothing
but the gospel
and will not hear
what we tell

God might put it
inside their hearts
but they will still
take us apart
both verbally
and physically
but they cannot
stop spirituality
i will continue
to tell the tale
of how Jesus
died for us all

This week’s poem was one of my first, written in high shool English class, and I think it relates to much of the theme of Courageous.

the kind of person
i should have been

daniel m  klem

the kind of person i should have been is coming back
he is nice to all and likes to talk to people

the kind of person i should have been was around as a kid
he was curious about everything he could learn

the kind of person i should have been says  I forgive you
when someone does something to me

the kind of person i should have been likes to meet people
he walks around looking for new friends

the kind of person i should have been loves Jesus
just as i do now with all of my friends

I am still amazed by people who live their lives for God, and I am more amazed by God! I also saw Courageous twice already, and it only caused more amazement.

SEE THAT MOVIE!

amazing
daniel m  klem

Your Love is amazing
Your Grace is amazing
Your Spirit is amazing
You Glory is amazing
Your Faith is amazing
most amazing of all
You sent Your only Son
He died and saved us
This Redeemer is amazing

it was all for Him
daniel m  klem

when i gave up everything
it was all for Him
when i changed my lifestyle
it was all for Him
when i told others the Good News
it was all for Him
when one asked why i love Jesus
i simply answered
it is all for Him

Weekend Words & Sunday Stanzas – 09/25/2011

Some people may have thought it very odd that I call people jerks when they help me, therefore, I hae a fittingly named poem:

Be weird

The masses of the world
Tell us to conform;
We should not shift away
From the accepted norm.
But if most of those people
Live their lives depressed,
Why should we give in
And blend in with the rest?
If most of the world tells us
This is the only way to live,
Does that make us weird
And impossible to forgive?
I do not think this is so,
And I would argue for
The fact that the so-called norm
Leaves most searching for more.
So, if you yearn for more
And will not settle for less,
Then I say to you be weird!
Find out how to be blessed!
The only way to find the Truth
And learn to be happier
Is to turn to God through Jesus,
The best at “being weird.”
Through this very Son of God
All mankind can know and hear
That forgiveness is for all
And not meant to be weird.
So, if you truly desire
To have a life that is blessed,
Turn to the Weirdest One of all,
God’s only Son, Jesus!
