VerseD: Matthew 1:21

“‭And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Matthew‬ ‭1:21‬, ‭LSB‬

God’s power was on display, even as He became a baby. His very name showed Hos power, as this baby would grow up and take away the sins of all who believe in Him.

VerseD: Luke 2:11

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

‭Luke‬ ‭2:11‬, ‭ESV‬

Our God has come to us. He became a weak baby to demonstrate His omnipotence over death and sin as well as life. Trust in and worship Him.

VerseD: Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah‬ ‭9:6‬, ‭ESV‬

Our God became a baby. He came out of His love for us and His righteousness, showing His power and grace in restoring us to relationship with Himself.

Responses to Christmas Devotional

12 years ago, I wrote a series of Christmas devotional thoughts. For my church for 2023, I edited those and made a short, 6-day devotional booklet.

I am putting it here for your downloading pleasure.

It is a simple, fun yet still serious look at how some people responded to Christ’s birth 2000 years ago with some added application for today.

I pray you enjoy and are blessed by it.

Merry Christmas!

VerseD: Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6, ESV

The promise is not that God would make a visit to us. God has come, and He is reigning over Earth from Heaven through His Holy Spirit-filled Church.

Let us spread the Kingdom of our God who is with us.

VerseD: Luke 2:11

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:11, ESV

God came to us as a defenseless baby.

Yes, angels were watching, but He came to live as one of us to fulfill His promises since the Garden of Eden and to save us from sin. And the lowliest to the greatest of people are all invited to come to Him.

VerseD: Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14, ESV

God came to us, and He told us what to expect: the impossible. But what is impossible with man is possible with God (Luke 18:27), especially our salvation.

And He lived with us to buy our salvation.

VerseD: Luke 2:11

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:11, ESV

Our God has come to save us from our sin and separation. He became humble and weak to redeem us from our weakness, to die to save us from death, as a commoner to make us heirs of the King of all.

VerseD: Matthew 2:10-11

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
Matthew 2:10‭-‬11, ESV

Whether we have riches or nothing, feel like experts or novices or somebody’s or nobodies, God gave us the ultimate sign of hope through the gift of His Son.
Let us worship Him with everything we have, are, and do. For this baby grew to become our ransom from sin and death, and He is coming again!

VerseD: Luke 2:14

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
Luke 2:14, ESV

Our Father in heaven deserves praise and honor for sending His Son, the Prince of Peace, to give us the hope of our salvation.
