Religion is a disease, I have the cure

A couple days ago an atheist I have been talking to said he believes religion is a disease and he, I believe he thinks fortunately, has a natural immunity to it.

There is an obvious disdain for religion in those words but, theologically speaking, I don’t think he is entirely wrong.

What I mean by that is that people can indeed be “inoculated” by God for some divine reason we may never understand and become for all intents and purposes “imune from the disease.” Look at how people came to faith back in Peter’s day.

A multitude of people had gathered. Peter had preached a powerful sermon and, when they heard his words, they were “cut to the heart” and asked how they should respond.
