VerseD: Luke 6:35

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

Luke 6:35, ESV

God has shown His kindness and goodness to all of us (everyone) who has sinned (rebelled and disobeyed) against Him.

We remember that vengeance is the Lord’s against those who wrong us, and, just as we can never earn grace nor our own salvation but must accept His gift, we give of ourselves to help others.

VerseD: Matthew 5:44

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
Matthew 5:44, ESV

We are not to get vengeance. We are not to seek retribution.

We are to help fellow sinners get free from God’s wrath. If we refuse to love them, their trip to Hell may be on our own heads.

You want vengeance for their sin? Lead them to repentance through prayer and the Gospel.

VerseD: Exodus 14:14

“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
Exodus 14:14, ESV

Remember that vengeance belongs to the Lord (Deuteronomy 32:35), so do not retaliate in any way. Hold your tongue and hold back your hand.

In fact, turn the other cheek and forgive.
