2 Corinthians 9:6, ESV
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
God alone is our source of all things, and, like Him, He asks us to give of ourselves and our possessions to help others out of the same love He gives us.
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

The tithe was essentially a tax to pay for the Temple and priests in Israel.
Now, we give because we love Christ’s Church and want to support the spread of the Gospel. Ten percent can be a guide to giving, not necessarily the standard.
