Resolving 61 Bible Contradictions from Jesus’ Final Week to His Ascension

Over the years I tried to put out more posts resolving Bible contradictions concerning the final week of Christ through His Ascension to add to the list of answered contradictions.  It takes some time on my part to go through them to provide exegetically sound refutations; Lord willing I will add more to this lists […]

This Sunday: Pray for any church trying to budget to have a full time pastor

I know of several chur he’s going through this process. I am talking with one about coming on part-time as their pastor (on my way to preach there as of this posting.) I do believe that it is okay for the majority of a church’s budget being for paying the pastor, and I have for over two and a half decades.

Let us lift up Jimmy’s church and all churches facing this decision.

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for any church trying to budget to have a full time pastor.

This Sunday at Church: Thank the Lord if your church has a back-up Worship Leader

We have a few people who can cover the music in an emergency, and we have easy access to a couple other people who can usually step in. It is nice, especially with our music pastor out of town the next two Sundays. It usually makes for a nice change of pace. One time, all our usual people were traveling together! The man who filled in played songs we normally avoid, and it could be felt. I am also thankful for a gracious congregation who was kind, but that person was removed from any list of possible cover. Let us always be grateful for others who can help lead our worship services.

This Sunday: Talk to any returning visitors

This was something discussed in our recent Congregational Meeting, how we can encourage members to be more attentive and thus welcoming to newer people and visitors. I know I often get stuck in conversations and cannot always meet new people right away, so it is helpful to have many people be ready to be welcoming to all including those who come back again!

This Sunday at Church: Thank the Lord if your church has a back-up Audio-Visual Guy

I could step in if necessary, but we have a couple young men who are being trained in case something happens to our main A/V guy. It is a mildly stressful thing to consider, so it is a blessing to have a few people who are ready and able to step in.

This Sunday at Church: If you are snowed in and unable to go to church here’s a sermon from Mark 9:9-13

I am always down for a good sermon.

This Sunday at Church: Pray for your pastor if he is bi-vocational

Personally, I have been in 8 churches, and 5 of the lead pastors were bi-vocational. Most associate pastors I have known have been bo-vocational (including myself.) Thankfully, our current pastor is full-time, but all pastors need a lot of prayer.

Daniel

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. Pray for us; for we are convinced that we have a clear conscience, wanting to conduct ourselves honorably in everything.

This Sunday at Church: Encourage those who are involved with bus ministry

I was a part of the bus ministry with my first c9ngregation, as a teenager. In my early 20s, I helped form something similar for the party crowd. In our current congregation, we don’t have a bus, but we have a small unofficial team of volunteers who help a few people with getting to and from services. And it can be work. Let us pray for peace, pati3nce, and compassion foe all involved, including those getting a ride.
