I know I deal with everything listed here that can make things uncomfortable when greeting people. And I am the Youth Pastor! We have been at our little church for just over a year, and there are still a few people who barely talk to me. They are more shy than I am! But a few shy ones have begun opening up.
Start by simply saying hi.
Interestingly, I was tasked with greeting everyone this morning and then ask them to write an encouraging/thankful note for the teachers and staff in the school we meet in. (I am delivering enough cups of cold brew coffee Monday morning for each of them!) I got to say hi to each of the 51 who showed up for our brunch service, kids and all.
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
The morning greet is a favorite of mine. I try to reach every hand in attendance.
