Weekend Words & Sunday Stanzas – 06/24/2012

Happy Sunday!

Seeing as half the Sundays this month were celebrating something on this blog, why not celebrate another day in which we celebrate our risen Lord! The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ changed everything for this world and countless lives.

That is the real key: changed lives.

May we have a real heart for those who are lost, and we may we never lose focus that it is God who changes people – not us.

a changing devotion

God,
I tried to change those around me
Nothing ever seemed to work out
Now I know what it is I need
First You need to change me
I need to let You inside of me
After I am changed because of You
I will live out the new change
Then those I hurt for will change.

  1. Happy Sunday yes…but it is the SOLEMNITY of ST JOHN THE BAPTIST too. He was born, Sacred Scripture indicates, just about exactly 6 months before our Lord Jesus Christ. And lived and died almost exactly the same length of time.

So it is indeed a special Sunday, and your post is so fitting because John the Baptist made the soil fertile for the Lord’s preaching and ministry. And that is what you are saying we must do to ourselves or at least allow to be done to us. Let Him change us so that others are changed through us.

We allow God to change us–then we step back and let Him be pre-eminnent, just as John did. “I must decrease, He must increase.”

I believe your post is very fitting.

    • I am definitely chalking this one up to the Holy Spirit! I prepared this post over two months ago, and – along with about a dozen others – I got it out of my head (and copy-and-pasted) in a few quick minutes.

Either that, or that is one amazing coincidence.*

      Also, you definitely nailed it!

*(For the record, I do not believe in coincidences.)
