This Sunday at Church: Pray for those who attend church would have the right motivation with going to church

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for those who attend church would have the right motivation with going to church. My church is a small church.  Over the years people have left saying its too small.  I think there’s times when people might leave a church for […]

This Sunday at Church: Pray with someone starting High School

This may surprise some people, but I pray with junior high and high schoolers regularly.

They need it. And from more than their youth Pastor.

Daniel

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray with someone starting High School. Apparently I have not post this idea before; though I have posted about praying for someone at church who is going off to college. As crazy people with agenda want to influence our kids wrongly in […]

This Sunday at Church: Get good tracts for the evangelists in your church

I am actually tasked with going through our tracts in our congregation, because so many people bring them to church to share! I also share some, but we are an evangelical bunch.

Daniel

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Get good tracts for the evangelists in your church. There is a brother in our church who has been evangelizing more.  He often gives tracts to nonbelievers on the way to work.  I got him some tracts.  I plan to still give […]

This Sunday at Church: Get Ice Cream with Someone

I happen to lead our Christianity 101 study, and it was designed to be done with lunch (and usually dessert!) and is in the home of one of our attendees. This helps us all learn and grow together. We share food and God’s Word, looking at His promises and inviting Him into our homes.

Daniel

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Get Ice Cream with Someone. The early church has meals together. Hear Acts 2:46: “Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of […]

This Sunday at Church: Express praise if your Church teach from the Old Testament

I hear from folks in our congregation regularly how glad they are they can hear the full council of God from our pulpit. We follow the approach of alternating from a book or series of books from the Old Testament and the New Testament. We preached through Ruth, and are currently in Galatians.

I know I thank God for this little congregation and the leadership. I have been in enough churches that preach primarily topical messages (not necessarily bad in and of themselves, but they must be biblically sound and based!) and/or downloaded sermons from others. (And this was not in Southern Baptist Churches, like was heard of from Ed Litton as and before becoming the SBC president. Aht least he typically used fairly decent material. I have heard sermons pulled from known false teachers but that “sounded so good!”)

Daniel

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Express praise if your Church teach from the Old Testament.   I think most churches on Sunday would be teaching on the New Testament.  That’s good.  But we must not forget that the Old Testament is also the Word of God. And the Old Testament is often […]

This Sunday at Church: Pray for those who are doing more work at church while others are gone during the Summer

This usually describes two or three of us in particular in our congregation especially this year. Our lead pastor is on vacation, and an elder is home with his second baby. I do get a short vacation this summer, but our music pastor and I are pulling double duties. I will also be with another congregation twice to cover for our brother while he goes out of town! My wife also often covers for Sunday School teachers (she is teaching three times this month, plus nursery time.)

But we do love it.

Daniel

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for those who are doing more work at church while others are gone during the Summer.   Summer is often a time people take vacations or long breaks from the routine.  Its a time some churches might not have as many people around during Sunday.  And […]

This Sunday at Church: Praying more people would come to a Biblical view of the Preborn

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Praying more people would come to a Biblical view of the Preborn.   This past week I’m sure we have seen a lot of so called Christians display views that does not acknowledge the personhood of the preborn.  I think there’s a lot of teachings that needs […]

This Sunday at Church: Encourage a father who is turning his life around

We have a couple of fathers in our congregation currently striving. One became a Christian just this past January. Another saw his son choose to be baptized, and it is encouraging him to take faith more seriously.

It takes work. It takes sacrifice. It takes rhw Church.

Daniel

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Encourage a father who is turning his life around. In past years I have posted This Sunday at Church: Encourage a father that’s an Example to Others and This Sunday at Church: Encourage a father going through a hard time with his kids.  Those are important.  But I also […]

This Sunday at Church: Praying with those joining the military

I almost signed up with the Marine Corps. I had/have several friends and family in all of the branches. I was instead blessed with praying for and helping support families and military members. They need all the prayers they can get!

Daniel

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Praying with those joining the military.   Last week Sunday we posted “Praying with those who are graduating and anxious with the future.” In the past I have posted a few posts about those in your church leaving off for college. I thought those who might be joining […]

This Sunday at Church: Encourage a mom with any of these seven biblical truths

Not just one Sunday a year, but all year long. Let us remind mothers they are loved and appreciated.

I remember once in an argument with my own mother, saying – in the heat of anger, showing God’s grace flowing – “I’m waking away to keep from causing greater disrespect!” Not ten seconds later my mom was hugging me and crying. Neither of us had been fully right, but she knew I had referenced the Fifth Commandment when I tried to storm off.

God’s Word is what reminded us to love each other and immediately reconcile. And this is the woman who led her sisters in to full reconciliation with their mom over the next years.

Daniel

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Encourage a mom with any of these seven biblical truths. It might be something hard to try to encourage moms, whether you are a mom or not.  I was trying to think of what truths one can share to mothers at church. Here’s seven truths from Scriptures: […]
