This Sunday at Church: Pray for new believers who recently got saved

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for new believers who recently got saved. In the past I wrote “This Sunday at Church: Pray for unsaved recent visitors to be saved” and a few weeks ago also to “Pray for any long time church goer not yet a Christian would be saved.” It turns […]

This Sunday at Church: Pray for the Gospel to advance in Turkmenistan

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for the Gospel to advance in Turkmenistan. Most Americans do not know much of the countries in Central Asia.  They are the countries that ends with “stans.”  Think Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, etc. But the ones I don’t know about the most is Turkmenistan. Its been called […]

This Sunday at Church: Pray for any long time church goer not yet a Christian would be saved

I have encountered many over the years who think they’re good enough or that just going to church is enough to please God, attending each week, maybe even going to Bible studies. It can be one of the hardest deceptions to break through.

I have even had several conversations about Ravi Zacharias this past week, someone who spoke in churches and Christian events making good cases for faith in Christ, yet he apparently was unrepentant through his last breath.

May we pray for those who attend but never really follow Christ.

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for any long time church goer not yet a Christian would be saved.   In the past I wrote “This Sunday at Church: Pray for unsaved recent visitors to be saved.” I’ve been thinking tonight about prayer for those who are not saved and yet regularly go […]

This Sunday at Church: Being Grateful for other Members of other Local Churches

I spent about a year as a new Christian with the belief that my little church home was the best church that had everything figured out.

Today, I have friends across the theological spectrum, we have sent each other families who were looking for a better fit for their beliefs and gifting, and we regularly do events together and pray for each other.

The Body of Christ is better when we all get along!

(Yes. Watch out for the wolves in sheep’s clothing. But also remember Whitefield on Wesley: that he wouldn’t see Wesley in heaven because Wesleywould be closer to the throne.)

Daniel

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Being Grateful for other Members of other Local Churches. I think one’s local church is important. In fact this series on the Church for the last few years now have focused on that. Lately I have been thinking about how sinful we […]

I (Still) Love/Hate Religion.

On the holiday the USA celebrates freedom, how about a throwback to my first ever post on this blog 12.48 years ago (give or take). I took a look at the religion/relationship debate, and the implication is what our freedom in Christ means for us.

Daniel

That’s right. I love religion, and I hate religion. One of the first sayings (not the first, mind you) I learned as a young believer in Christ was “I hate religion” because “It’s a relationship!” Everyone knows that religion is a trap that constrains all who practice from truly knowing God! Everyone knows that religion […]

This Sunday at Church: Pray for the Persecuted Church’s Pastors’ library not be destroyed

I also know and know of pastors under persecution who cherish any books that help them pastor and preach better. It reminds me of the early Church, clinging to letters from the Apostles, including some we know have been lost over 2000 years. Many books even keep us centered and away from heresy, so let us loft up our persecuted brothers and their books!

Daniel

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for the Persecuted Church’s Pastors’ library not be destroyed. This might seem like a rather peculiar prayer requests afterall there’s also things more important than books like lives, free from persecution, etc. We have covered those things as part off our Sunday prayer posts over the […]
